Pinspired Challenge #11

Hello and welcome to another Pinspired Challenge! I hope you guys will play along with us for this challenge. The inspirational photo is just gorgeous and I couldn’t wait to play along the moment I saw it…. Here is my take:

DSC_0001wtmk

I had fun making this card because it uses a lot of techniques. I heat embossed the gorgeous background with white embossing powder and then water colored the images with Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I also colored the banner and little house with the distress markers as well… I decided to break up the background just a little by die cutting an air vent strip using a Simon Says Stamp exclusive die…

I popped the banner and house up with foam dimension and voila, done!

Our sponsor this month is S P & Company.  S P & Company offers a wide variety of products including their own line of stamps, dies, paper, and ink.  They are offering the winner of this challenge a $20 gift certificate to their online store!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Take a picture using GESSO, Lawn Fawn and Hero Arts

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope this week has found you well. I was up most of the night with a hungry little girl, but I’m not complaining. Just thrilled she is here with us. A true miracle. Both of my kids are… Kids. Still can’t get over saying that…. Thank you Jesus….

Today’s challenge is TAKE A PICTURE! Create anything that is film, camera, photograph related…. I chose to work with a couple of Lawn Fawn stamp sets and paired them with a technique I picked up from the cute Lisa Spangler…  GESSO! Here’s a look (all supplies are listed at the bottom of the post):

DSC_0007wtmk

Let me explain. I started with a white piece of card stock and used several different color distress stains to create the background. I then took a thick layer of Gesso and applied it with a palette knife… I then took the envelope pattern stamp set from Hero Arts and pressed down into the gesso and got this amazing texture as a result.

DSC_0011wtmk

To bring out the texture even more, I rubbed some Weathered Wood Distress Paint mixed with water over the top……  I then took the filmstrip image from the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Borders set to incorporate the sentiment….

And there you have it. A little mixed media card. I don’t do mixed media often as I don’t have the skill for it, but after seeing Lisa’s technique video, I had to give it a try!

The wonderfully amazing and sweet Heidi is offering up a $50 gift certificate to the Simon Says Stamp online store!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!! That’s awesome!!!

Be sure to head on over the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog and take a look at the rest of the design team inspiration and play along with us!!! Be prepared to have your socks blown off because they are all amazing! I am so lucky to be a part of this team! Dream come true.

Pinspired Challenge #5 sponsored by It’s Always Fabulous

Welcome to another Pinspired Challenge, where we turn pins into projects!!! We have a super fun inspiration photo to inspire you with today! I love the pattern, the colors, the whole shabang! We are sponsored by It’s Always Fabulous who has graciously offered up a $15 gift certificate to to their online store. But that’s not all! Everyone that participants in the challenge will receive a FREE SHIPPING CODE to their store!!!! Be sure to check out their store as well as their blog!

I was inspired by both the pattern and colors of the photo so here is what I created, using Tim Holtz Distress Markers and this Hero Arts stamp.

DSC_0018wtmk

I love the distress ink markers and this is the only method I have found to get the colorful background! I simply colored directly onto the stamp with various colors, huffed on the stamp and stamped! For more ways to use distress markers, check out the video I made here. I also used the markers to create the sentiment.

DSC_0022wtmk

Again, I colored directly onto the stamp from this set. I started by coloring the sentiment with one color and then went over the top with another color in a flicking like technique, I demonstrate this in the youtube video linked above.

I hope that you will play along with us. You’ve got 10 whole days to get inky!!! You can create anything you want. A card, layout, DIY project, altered art, whatever you want!!! :) Here a look at the challenge badge!!!! :)

Inktense Watercolor Pencils versus Distress Markers

Hi there! Yesterday’s post left me wondering…… How would the cards look side by side using the same technique but with a different product. Yesterday, I used Distress Markers. Today, I used Inktense watercolor pencils…… I made a video for you all!

Sidebar: The current online card class Clean and Simple 2 is awesome. If you aren’t taking it, sign up. It’s not to late. Lifelong access. The card up front uses the distress markers. The cards in the back use the Inktense pencils.

Thinking of You using Simon Says Stamp Exclusives and Distress Markers

DSC_0020wtmk

Ok, so out of my comfort zone here… Totally. But I am finally starting the Clean and Simple 2 online card class and I was inspired by this card Jennifer made. By the way, the class is awesome so far. And I am just at the end of day one, he he….. Jennifer used Inktense Pencils, but I wanted to try her same  technique with distress ink markers just for giggles and to make a less vibrant card….

DSC_0023wtmk

I heat embossed the Lattice Background and took different colors of the Tim Holtz markers and “watercolored” them on to the card base… :)

I will make the same card with Inktense pencils and show you the comparison of the two colors… Look for that post later in the week! :)

Fun, right??? So many options here. The colors, the polka dots, the lollipops make me think of twine…. I decided to incorporate the polka dots and colors into the project I created. It’s a bit busy, and less clean lined like I normally do, but that’s the fun thing about these challenges. They inspire you in different ways….

DSC_0005wtmk

I stamped the various flowers from this stamp set using my Tim Holtz Distress Markers! I love the multi colors you get by using the markers! So much fun… I did a video on the different ways to use markers ions ago, which you can find here. To go directly to the technique that shows how to markers directly to your stamp go to minute 4. It’s about 20 seconds in…. The hill top was created by using Tim Holtz Distress stain.

I hope you will head on over to the Pinspired Challenge blog and check out what all the design team created!! And play along, will ya????

A few Christmas Tags….

On a more personal note, I want to thank you for all the comments and emails you have sent me about my pregnancy! I am approaching 21 weeks this Sunday and things are progressing smoothly so far. Holiday Workshop Class Inspiration: Just Because (stain glass, faux fresco)

I have had so much fun taking the Online Card Class Holiday Workshop. Today’s card was inspired by day 3 and day 3 and day 6, incorporating a few different techniques into one card…. The background was created using some dry embossing, copics and a picket fence stain over the top (faux fresco technique)….  And the flower was made using the stain glass technique by coloring with distress markers.

I needed to tone down the color of the card stock base so I applied some more Picket Fence Distress Stain over the top for a white wash look. Added stickles to the center of the flower.   I so love the Hero Arts flower. 4 come in the set so you definitely get your monies worth…. I am going to enter this into their current monthly challenge.

I hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by.
