Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Take a picture using GESSO, Lawn Fawn and Hero Arts

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope this week has found you well. I was up most of the night with a hungry little girl, but I’m not complaining. Just thrilled she is here with us. A true miracle. Both of my kids are… Kids. Still can’t get over saying that…. Thank you Jesus….

Today’s challenge is TAKE A PICTURE! Create anything that is film, camera, photograph related…. I chose to work with a couple of Lawn Fawn stamp sets and paired them with a technique I picked up from the cute Lisa Spangler…  GESSO! Here’s a look (all supplies are listed at the bottom of the post):

Let me explain. I started with a white piece of card stock and used several different color distress stains to create the background. I then took a thick layer of Gesso and applied it with a palette knife… I then took the envelope pattern stamp set from Hero Arts and pressed down into the gesso and got this amazing texture as a result.

To bring out the texture even more, I rubbed some Weathered Wood Distress Paint mixed with water over the top……  I then took the filmstrip image from the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Borders set to incorporate the sentiment….

And there you have it. A little mixed media card. I don’t do mixed media often as I don’t have the skill for it, but after seeing Lisa’s technique video, I had to give it a try!

Happy Birthday using exclusive Simon Says Stamp

I was feeling a bit stressed out the other morning, Lily was sleeping so I went upstairs to my still unpacked craft room and made this card using some new Simon Says Stamp exclusive dies/stamps to unwind…. It helped!!  I paired the adorable images from the set with Copics and Hero Arts Shadow inks and love how it turned out. I didn’t have matching rhinestones so I took some clear ones and colored them with Copics to match! The bee is colored with a cool new glitter pen I picked up…. The panel is popped up on dimension…

I had so much fun making this card! I hope you like it… :)

Lawnscaping Challenge: BLING IT sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

Hello HELLO HELLO! I am so happy to be back with my Lawnscaping gals. It’s been about 3 months or so I think……. :) I dusted off my crafty supplies and tried to find some mojo!! We are sponsored by the fabulous Simon Says Stamp! The winner of this challenge will receive a $25 gift card to their online store:)

Here is what I created inspired by the challenge:

DSC_0014wtmk

I masked the circle and applied the distress ink pad directly to the card stock. I sprayed the stars stamp with Perfect Pearls and stamped onto the distress ink panel. I colored the ice cream images with copics and popped them up with some dimension. I wanted to add some more bling so I dug out some glossy accents, rhinestones and liquid pearls…

I hope that you will play along with us!!!! This is such a fun challenge and I can’t wait to visit your blogs and be inspired!!!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Cityscapes and/or Travel

Hello! And welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge!!! Today’s challenge is all about Cityscapes or traveling…. I have the perfect cityscape stamp for this challenge!!!

DSC_0060wtmkI stamped the cityscape with this ink (my favorite white ink) and colored some of the windows with a yellow gel pen (it’s shiny in real life). The awesome sentiment is from this Simon Says Stamp set. And I finished off the card with some coordinating hemp by Lawn Fawn. A fairly simple card.. And super easy to mass produce. You could just leave it sentiment free and then customize it to whatever when the time comes…. Change out the card base and make a set for a friend. Whatever…. :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: April Showers and/or Spring Flowers

I'm back!

It’s good to be back. It’s been at least two months since I have gotten crafty! From the hospital stay trying to get my blood pressure under control, to the emergency c-section, to the NICU and finally home with a premie and 7 year old (blog about the experience here)…. All while trying to recover from surgery and get my blood pressure in check.   I so appreciate all my design teams allowing me some time off. I am happy to be back to playing along with Simon Says Stamp! I have missed my Simon family. I will rejoin my other two design teams next month hopefully.

Before I get to my card, I wanted to say thank you to all of those who have reached out to me, whether it be by email, postal mail or commenting on my blog. I have read every single one and appreciate all the kind words and support! And so many of you have even gone as far as to send something to me for Lily! I can’t begin to tell me how blown away I am by all the kindness from you all. Thank you so very much!! Really! THANK YOU!!!!!

On to the card! April Showers or Spring Flowers! I opted to go the flowers route! I wanted to make something fun and happy, and at the same time, something I could work on in shifts! With a newborn, you just never know how much time you are gonna get!

DSC_0055wtmk

I did some pencil coloring on this one. I stamped the GORGEOUS Flower Table Cloth background stamp by Hero Arts and stamped in with Hero Arts Soft Sand Shadow ink and the colored the flowers with Prisma colored pencils! The banner and sentiment are from the fabulous Simon Says Stamp exclusive line. I went around the edges with some Tim Holtz distress ink. I typically stay away from the colored pencils because to me it looks so hand colored, but today, I was feeling the mood. And I like the way it turned out. It’s a different look for me. And if the recipient doesn’t like it, I will tell then my 7 year old did it! He. He.

Pinspired Challenge #5 sponsored by It’s Always Fabulous

Welcome to another Pinspired Challenge, where we turn pins into projects!!! We have a super fun inspiration photo to inspire you with today! I love the pattern, the colors, the whole shabang! We are sponsored by It’s Always Fabulous who has graciously offered up a $15 gift certificate to to their online store. But that’s not all! Everyone that participants in the challenge will receive a FREE SHIPPING CODE to their store!!!! Be sure to check out their store as well as their blog!

I was inspired by both the pattern and colors of the photo so here is what I created, using Tim Holtz Distress Markers and this Hero Arts stamp.

DSC_0018wtmk

I love the distress ink markers and this is the only method I have found to get the colorful background! I simply colored directly onto the stamp with various colors, huffed on the stamp and stamped! For more ways to use distress markers, check out the video I made here. I also used the markers to create the sentiment.

DSC_0022wtmk

Again, I colored directly onto the stamp from this set. I started by coloring the sentiment with one color and then went over the top with another color in a flicking like technique, I demonstrate this in the youtube video linked above.

I hope that you will play along with us. You’ve got 10 whole days to get inky!!! You can create anything you want. A card, layout, DIY project, altered art, whatever you want!!! :) Here a look at the challenge badge!!!! :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge!!!!! Today’s challenge is ANYTHING GOES, so get inky and play along with us!!!! The Design Team is using Tim Holtz products, and you guys know how I LOVE distress inks, so of course I had to use them for today’s card!!! :)

DSC_0019wtmk

I took some masking paper and masked off areas of the card and then blending in two different colors of distress inks. After applying the first shade, I moved the masking paper down a little and applied the second shade. Added a little water flicking to finish off the area. Loving the hearts from Simon Says Stamp exclusive line….

Lawnscaping Challenge: Stamp a scene sponsored by Lawn Fawn

Happy Monday!!! Today we’ve got a fun Lawnscaping Challenge in store for you! Stamping a scene! I love to create scenes with stamps. It is so fun and freeing and you can be as simple or as complex as you want!!!!!!! Here is what I made using lots and lots of different Lawn Fawn sets!

DSC_0009wtmk

I dabbled with the masking technique again! I took the Chevron border and created what I hope you will see as a tree! I stamped it in two different shades of greens by Hero Arts…. I hand drew in the branches and added some heart die cuts I had lying on my desk…. (save all your scraps peeps, you never know)…. The gnome and log? Yup, I colored those like 8 months ago and I keep all my extras in a pottery mug on my desk.. So this card came together very quickly.

We are sponsored this week by the fabulous Lawn Fawn! They have graciously offered up a free stamp set of the winners choice! :)
