Happy Birthday using exclusive Simon Says Stamp

I was feeling a bit stressed out the other morning, Lily was sleeping so I went upstairs to my still unpacked craft room and made this card using some new Simon Says Stamp exclusive dies/stamps to unwind…. It helped!!  I paired the adorable images from the set with Copics and Hero Arts Shadow inks and love how it turned out. I didn’t have matching rhinestones so I took some clear ones and colored them with Copics to match! The bee is colored with a cool new glitter pen I picked up…. The panel is popped up on dimension…

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Flower Power

Happy Wednesday everyone and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge! This week’s theme is FLOWER Power and the Design team is using Prima and/or CASual Friday products!!!!

I heat set the gorgeous floral background with white embossing powder and stamped the circle border and sentiment from CASual Friday with Hero Arts shadow inks! I didn’t have any good pearls so I made my own with Liquid Pearls!

Pinspired Challenge using GELATOS: Sponsored by Avery Elle

My inspiration for my card came from the color of the badge. Now I warn you, this is a grungy type card, far off from my style. I wanted to use my Faber Castell gelatos in a way I hadn’t used them before so I used them with a mask from Crafter’s Companion. All supplies are listed at the end of this post… (SIDE NOTE: I haven’t fully unpacked my craft room so I was unable to put my hands on my Avery Elle stamps for this challenge)…

Let me explain how I made this card since it is far off from my usual style:

  1. Coated card base with Gesso
  2. Adhered the Chevron mask by Crafters Companion over the card panel and adhered with washi tape.
  3. Used two different shades of pink and colored over the mask and then blended with a combination of my finger and water
  4. Added red gelato the the edges of both the card base and the card panel with red and blended using water.
  5. Stamped sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp April card kit stamp set with Hero Arts neon pink ink. The set can also be purchased individually here.

Happy Mothers Day using Simon Says Stamp May Card Kit

Hello everyone! I made my mom a Mother’s Day card using the contents from the May Card kit over at Simon Says Stamp. Do you get these kits? They are amazing and have everything you need and then some to create many fabulous projects. Also included in the kit is a sample sheet of cards made by other designers! I was drawn to the card Sarah made so I made something for my mom inspired by her card.

Everything you see in this card was included in the kit. There is so much more in the kit from embellishments to liquid pearls to tons of patterned paper and card stock…… I love these kits. I hope my mom likes her card…… I have the best mom in the world. She is truly my best friend…. I can talk to her about anything and I can’t imagine living far away from her. I have been very lucky to be able to reside in Jacksonville throughout all of our new military orders, which is almost unheard of. God really looks out for us in that regard… We are a close knit family, that is for sure… Growing up, we would go to my grandparents house every Sunday for lunch. My grandmother was the best cook!! I have no idea how she kept everything hot…. She would wake up early and cook and by the time we got there, everything was hot and ready to go…. I miss both of my grandparents dearly…  I wish they could have met my children. Since I had the best grandparents, it is only fitting that my kids have the best grandparents and they do!!!

To all the moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you are able to kick your feet up and relax!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything with Wings

It’s Simon Says Stamp challenge day!!!!!  The theme is THINGS WITH WINGS! Butterflies, airplanes, etc……… The Design Team is using Studio Calico products this week! I paired the Studio Calico Borders stamp set with some watercolor crayons and this fun sentiment by Hero Arts…

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Happy Mail – Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate

Hello and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge! This week’s theme is all about bringing happiness to a recipient!  Not a specific occasion or reason… Just something that would brighten someones day…. The Design Team is using Technique Tuesday products and I am using this stamp by Teri Anderson. HELLO! As soon as I saw the chocolate set, I knew I had to have it….

I wanted to keep the color scheme dark because it reminded me of chocolate, so I pulled out my new and never used Distress Paints and came up with that marbleized looking background. Simon Says Stamp: ANYTHING GOES

Howdy! And a happy Wednesday to you all. Today’s challenge is ANYTHING GOES, so no excuses not to play along! The Design Team is using Impression Obsession products and I have to say, I love them. I have 3 of their background stamps and managed to use all of them on my card today! They stamp to perfection and are big enough to cover your entire piece of card stock….. That’s always a plus for me…. I combined those stamps with my two other favorites, Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp exclusives……. YUM!

I inked up the brick background with Distress Paint, my first time using it. Pretty cool stuff… Need to play with them more to figure out other techniques to use with them! The speech bubble and text is from Simon Says Stamp… I love their stamps and dies. They are fantastic. I added a little liquid applique to the lion… Love the texture. I used two other Impression Obsession stamps for the hilltop and background panel….

This is the 2nd card I have made since my “maternity” leave…. About 3 months of no crafting took a toll on my creativity! I hope you all like this card. :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Cityscapes and/or Travel

Hello! And welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge!!! Today’s challenge is all about Cityscapes or traveling…. I have the perfect cityscape stamp for this challenge!!!

DSC_0060wtmkI stamped the cityscape with this ink (my favorite white ink) and colored some of the windows with a yellow gel pen (it’s shiny in real life). The awesome sentiment is from this Simon Says Stamp set. And I finished off the card with some coordinating hemp by Lawn Fawn. A fairly simple card.. And super easy to mass produce. You could just leave it sentiment free and then customize it to whatever when the time comes…. Change out the card base and make a set for a friend. Whatever…. :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: April Showers and/or Spring Flowers

I'm back!

It’s good to be back. It’s been at least two months since I have gotten crafty! From the hospital stay trying to get my blood pressure under control, to the emergency c-section, to the NICU and finally home with a premie and 7 year old (blog about the experience here)…. All while trying to recover from surgery and get my blood pressure in check.   I so appreciate all my design teams allowing me some time off. I am happy to be back to playing along with Simon Says Stamp! I have missed my Simon family. I will rejoin my other two design teams next month hopefully.

Before I get to my card, I wanted to say thank you to all of those who have reached out to me, whether it be by email, postal mail or commenting on my blog. I have read every single one and appreciate all the kind words and support! And so many of you have even gone as far as to send something to me for Lily! I can’t begin to tell me how blown away I am by all the kindness from you all. Thank you so very much!! Really! THANK YOU!!!!!

On to the card! April Showers or Spring Flowers! I opted to go the flowers route! I wanted to make something fun and happy, and at the same time, something I could work on in shifts! With a newborn, you just never know how much time you are gonna get!

I did some pencil coloring on this one. I stamped the GORGEOUS Flower Table Cloth background stamp by Hero Arts and stamped in with Hero Arts Soft Sand Shadow ink and the colored the flowers with Prisma colored pencils! The banner and sentiment are from the fabulous Simon Says Stamp exclusive line. I went around the edges with some Tim Holtz distress ink. I typically stay away from the colored pencils because to me it looks so hand colored, but today, I was feeling the mood. And I like the way it turned out. It’s a different look for me. And if the recipient doesn’t like it, I will tell then my 7 year old did it! He. He.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp challenge!!!!! Today’s challenge is ANYTHING GOES, so get inky and play along with us!!!! The Design Team is using Tim Holtz products, and you guys know how I LOVE distress inks, so of course I had to use them for today’s card!!! :)

I took some masking paper and masked off areas of the card and then blending in two different colors of distress inks. After applying the first shade, I moved the masking paper down a little and applied the second shade. Added a little water flicking to finish off the area. Loving the hearts from Simon Says Stamp exclusive line….
