So, recently a couple of my fellow designers from the Simon Says Stamp design team were talking about this baby! A printing plate? Tell me more… After watching a few youtube videos to see what in fact it was, I was hooked…. It came in my latest Simon Says Stamp order and I immediately played around with it a little bit while the baby was napping (the baby… I’m still over the moon by this little miracle). I made a total of 3 cards and today I am here to share the first one with you….
The background was created using that geli plate! (They have a larger version but I’m a card maker so the smaller one was suited for me). It was so fun to use (but be warned, it IS messy)…. This was my absolute first attempt using the plate so just think how cool it will be once I get a decent amount of practice in…. They key to using this plate it to find objects with texture to create your background. I quickly scanned my craft room and found two objects. The first being a rubber-band bracelet very similar to THIS. Not sure where it came from but who cares! And the second was a dry embossed circle die cut I didn’t use.. I keep all my non-used die cuts in a pottery mug on my desk and there it was, right one top (those are the circle designs on the background). I paired the background with the HELLO DIE CUT from the Stamptember™ release that I saturated with Distress Ink.
I’m sorry but I think that background is so freaking cool, and so unique because I would NEVER be able to make the same thing again. That is the cool thing about this plate! Have you used one before? If so, please link up your projects in the comments below. I would love to take a look!!!! How about a video? Anyone interested in seeing this baby in action? Leave me a comment below and if I get enough interest, I’ll film one. It’s been a while since I made a video….
