I am in the process of switching to a hosted wordpress blog (www.laurelbeard.org). I THINK Wordpress can transfer all of those who subscribed here over to there. Fingers crossed!
Happy Monday to you all! Today I am here with a fun card for the Lawnscaping Challenge! The challenge is all about patterned paper! I hoard it. I don’t know why. I barely use it! And I don’t know why either, lol! So I am glad about this challenge because it forced me to break out some patterned paper and get to work… I used some patterned from the Sweater Weather collection. And the bunnies from this set are adorbs I tell ya! I did a lot of stamping and fussy cutting to create this little number….
I forgot all about the polaroid from Say Cheese. Perfect for this little bunny scene if I do say so myself… Oh, the vellum polka dot paper is awesome! I found it in my ridiculously huge stash of PP so I have no idea where it came from, but it’s awesome. And all gone… Wah….. Pretty clean and straightforward but I LOVE it!!! 🙂 Be sure to head on over to the Lawnscaping Challenge and check out what the rest of the DT made!!!!
This challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp The winner will receive $25 gift certificate to their online store!
It’s a big month over at Mama Elephant! They are turning 2 years old! Lots of celebrating will go on this month so be sure to follow them if you don’t already! Today it’s all about the Mama Elephant and Me October Challenge. Wow! October! Since there is so much partying going on over there this month, we decided ANYTHING GOES would be the perfect theme! So bring it! I got inky for this challenge and have to say I love the results….. Isn’t that city scape gorgeous? Hello Central Park…. I so want to go back to NYC! Badly.. I like to visit, not live there because I’m too lazy to walk everywhere, but I sure love visiting……. The background was inked up with distress inks and then I went over the stencil with water. Just plain ole’ H2O.
The die was cut several times…… Inked up with the same distress inks and then I put a coating of glossy accents over the top. Look at the cityscape against the background. How cool is that. Is this something you would like to see a video tutorial on? Let me know in the comments…
You have ALL MONTH to play along in the Mama Elephant and Me challenge so no excuses!!! Be sure to head on over to the challenge blog, see the rest of the design team projects and all the deets on how you can play along and what prize is up for grabs!
Yup, did you know? Reverse Confetti hosts a color challenge every month to kick start your color inspiration!!!! I’m here today to share with you the card I made inspired by the challenge. Here’s a look.
Lots of technique here… I used the Triangles die cut and used it as a stencil. I put a whole bunch of crackle embossing paste over the top of the stencil/die cut until the entire panel was covered (moved the stencil around) and allowed to dry! I LOVE THAT CRACKLE look. I think it is the coolest thing ever!!! I went over the top of the panel with Tim Holtz distress inks which really made the crackled stencil pop more!!!! And then, I flicked some water over the top to create those water splatters. This can only work with distress inks because distress inks are formulated to react with water….. See the waves along the top? It’s from this die! LOVE IT! It could be water waves, hilltops.. Very versatile. The distress inks color I am working with today are perfect for the color challenge…. Pumice Stone, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw… To finsih off the card, I used the Give Thanks Dies and stamped the sentiment from this stamp set and adhered with foam dimension, after putting a little yellow/gold floss behind the back….
Thanks so much for popping by today!!!
HELLO HELLO and a happy Monday to you all! Today is Lawnscaping Challenge day! WOO HOO!!!! Do you like critters? I do!!!! So I love this challenge! It’s fantastic!!! Critters aren’t just the critters in the popular critter line either! Here I used some of the monsters from monster mash… I couldn’t stop there so I made another card using some critters! Let’s take a peek!
I am in love with this Monster Mash stamp set! It is adorable. Reminds me of the ghosts from PacMan! I don’t typically care for Halloween themed sets but this set can be used for Halloween cards as well. I plan on using it to create my son’s treat bags for school! I paired Monster Mash with the Party Banner die and stitched hillside die. Each of the hearts from the set were stamped sporadically and colored in with various Wink of Stella glitter brush pens! And of course, I had to add a few googly eyes! Oh, isn’t that patterned paper fab? It from this LF paper kit!!!! Added a few enamel dots and done.
Now onto the next card! Party critters style, lol! I stamped various critters from all kinds of critters sets and fussy cut them out (didn’t want the white border from the dies)… (ALL the sets I used are linked below in the product description section). I scattered them along the base of the card. I stamped PARTY and filled in the letters with Stickles for some fun dimension and shine! And all of the images were colored with my alcohol markers…. (Copics and Spectrum Noir).
So there you have it. A couple of really fun critter inspired cards! I hope you will stop on over at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog and check out what the rest of the design team made and play along!!! You’ve got 10 whole days! And LAWN FAWN in sponsoring this challenge so YOU could win!!!!!

I broke out Rocky the Raccoon here! How cute is he. Seriously. I used a stencil in my stash and some embossing paste to create the background! To create the horizontal panels on the sketch, I grabbed some distress ink! 🙂 I colored Rocky with some watercolors. See the note he is holding? It’s from this stamp and die from the latest release!!
Here is a look at the sketch! Now, get on over there and play along!

Howdy ho guys! It’s the first Monday of the month, which means it’s time for another Mama Elephant and me challenge! Last month’s watercoloring theme was a hit! Be sure to check out all the creations! This month’s challenge is all about paper piecing! I LOVE to paper piece! Initially I thought about paper piecing some critters or little people, but I wanted to go a different route and create a night scene, so I hope I pulled it off ok.
I LOVE THIS DIE! I LOVE IT!! It’s gorgeous, high quality, detailed and well. Just fab! Plus, part of my honeymoon was in NYC so this was a no brainer for me!!! I die cut it with a couple of different pieces of patterned paper and staggered them along the bottom of the card and popped the top panel up with some double sided tape. Before adhering them down, I created a “messy” night sky with my kuretake gansai watercolors.
As a finishing touch, I added this speech bubble from this stamp set and a strip of washi across the top! Be sure to head on over to the Mama Elephant and me challenge blog and check out the rest of the the AMAZING design team samples! When I saw their work, I was a tad bit jealous! It’s awesome…

Hi there everyone! Today is my second post of the day. There will be one more in about an hour! I KNOW I KNOW! Busy day at the blog today! It’s Lawnscaping Challenge time! WOO HOO! I love LAWN FAWN, and I love this challenge! Lawn Fawn just had their mega release so I can’t wait to play with all of my new goodies! (Ellen Hutson is having a one day sale today only, 15% off your entire order using code: LaborDay14 – Perfect time to get some Lawn Fawn at discount: CLICK HERE)
I did want to reach out for an oldie for this challenge though! So my new goodies had to wait! The challenge this week is ONE LAYER! Don’t be scared. One layer is actually fun and requires less supplies and is easy to mass produce unless you do a lot of masking and what not! Let’s take a look at what I created, with Christmas in mind of course. My favorite season of the year!
Now you will have the song PA RA PA PA PUM in your mind because that is the name of the stamp set I used today, lol! I stamped them all onto my card base, colored them in with my alcohol markers, did a little ink flicking, rounded the corners and voila, done! Take a close look at the puffs of smoke. Thats the Wink of Luna marker in silver! 🙂 And the multi colored ink sentiment? WPLUS9 inks rock!
As I mentioned before, we are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp (who just released their stamptember2014 release TODAY, click HERE to shop). The winner will receive $25 gift certificate to their online store!
So I hope you will play along with us! You have until September 10th to get your entires in!!!!! 🙂 Be sure to head on over to the Lawnscaping blog to check out the rest of the design team projects!
