Peace, Love, Joy and embossing paste with Ellen Huston Essentials

Hello everyone! And Happy day after World CardMaking day to you all! I spent the entire day in bed with  a terrible head cold/sinus infection! I am drugged up at the moment so perfect time to blog my next card using the Essentials by Ellen line… Did you see my post yesterday featuring 6 cards from the line? Today I am back with project #7. When I got this release, I just couldn’t put it down! It is all so fantastic! Today’s card uses the Brushstroke Christmas set. I love the big, bold sentiments and the stars and dot splatters on the set! SO much fun.  See the gold dots? Thats the dots! I stamped them in versamark and heat set them with some Enchanted Gold embossing powder!  The sentiment was heat embossed with Liquid Platinum embossing powder, my favorite embossing powder because it seems to go with everything!

Then I applied some embossing paste to this stencil and let it dry.  As a finishing step, I went over the entire panel with some worn lipstick and pumice stone distress inks and voila… All done… Loving all the texture and shine….

If you wish to see videos on ANY of the Essential by Ellen projects I have made, please let me know which ones in the comments… So far, I have two posts featuring these products!!!

Reverse Confetti – September Color Challenge

Yup, did you know? Reverse Confetti hosts a color challenge every month to kick start your color inspiration!!!! I’m here today to share with you the card I made inspired by the challenge. Here’s a look.

Lots of technique here…  I used the Triangles die cut and used it as a stencil. I put a whole bunch of crackle embossing paste over the top of the stencil/die cut until the entire panel was covered (moved the stencil around) and allowed to dry! I LOVE THAT CRACKLE look. I  think it is the coolest thing ever!!! I went over the top of the panel with Tim Holtz distress inks which really made the crackled stencil pop more!!!! And then, I flicked some water over the top to create those water splatters. This can only work with distress inks because distress inks are formulated to react with water….. See the waves along the top? It’s from this die! LOVE IT! It could be water waves, hilltops.. Very versatile. The distress inks color I am working with today are perfect for the color challenge…. Pumice Stone, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw… To finsih off the card, I used the Give Thanks Dies and stamped the sentiment from this stamp set and adhered with foam dimension, after putting a little yellow/gold floss behind the back….

NewReleaseSept 2

GIVE THANKS is a fantastic stamp set! I love all the sentiments in the set as well as the coordinating die cut (not used here)…..   The sentiments were designed to fit perfectly right inside that frame! For this card, I wanted to showcase the sentiment only! I simply stamped it in versamark, heat set it with Liquid Platinum embossing powder and did some watercoloring with my Kuretake Gansai Watercolors. I added a few strips of washi tape down the sides to create a fun border! Here is a closer look:

Moving on to a project using the GIVE THANKS LABEL (die) and GIVE THANKS stamp set as well as a sneak to another die coming out tomorrow called TAGGED TOTE! This TAGGED TOTE is the bomb! It comes with 7 die cuts to help you create your custom treat tote!  And some of the dies can be used individually on your card, like the curved polka dotted label I created…. Delicious. To create this card, I die cut the TAGGED TOTE die twice out of brown patterned paper, and then the curved panel from some polka paper. I stamped gorgeous framed sentiment onto some vellum and heat set it in the same Liquid Platinum embossing powder and then adhered the tote together!

Now, let’s move on to CAST A SPELL! I love this Halloween stamp set. It also has coordinating dies! I know! The first one uses the stamp set and another new release, SO MANY STARS…. I heat embossed the star paneled background and created a night sky with distress inks. I heat embossed the witch and cauldron and see the potion? That’s tinted embossing paste.

I love the glittery witch and cauldron, don’t you? The sentiment is hilarious! Love it.

Here we are using the same sets, CAST A SPELL, CAST A SPELL CUTS and SO MANY STARS!  This time, I stamped the stars onto a distress inked panel…. The TREATS is from another new product, TREAT TOTE! Makes the cutest tote and I will be sharing that with you tomorrow! Lots more projects to share, lots more fun! And a video!

I added some glossy accents to the TREAT! Perfect finishing touch I think….

Embossing Paste Skyline

Hi there! Have a quick and easy card to share with you today! It is no secret I love stencils so I paired this stencil up with some Wendy Vecchi embossing paste! After letting it dry (about 30 minutes), I colored it in with some Spectrum Noir Blendable pencils and flicked on some white ink and voila.. Bright, colorful and the dimension from the paste is unexpected!!!  I mounted it on a hot pink card base! Love that bright shot of color when the recipient opens the card.

By now everyone’s kids are back to school! Mine started a few weeks ago while some of my other friend’s kids started this week! How is it? My son loves school and he loves his teacher, so that makes it very easy on this Mom. I miss him to pieces during the day though!!!

Happy Wednesday to you all!

VIDEO: Winnie & Walter meets Crackle Embossing Paste

I had so much fun making this card! First off, I used this FAB set by Winnie & Walter. I love the banners, the variety of sentiments and the gorgeous flowers…. The background was created using Wendy Vecchi CRACKLE embossing paste. YUM YUM YUM! I used some of this WOW Embossing powder over the top of the flower and along the edges of the banner.

And of course, I added some of this universal embossing powder that goes with everything to the sentiment! Some got on the leaves by accident and I loved it so I used it!

You can watch the video right here on the blog or over on my youtube channel in HD!
