Mama Elephant and Me Challenge: Anything Goes

It’s a big month over at Mama Elephant! They are turning 2 years old! Lots of celebrating will go on this month so be sure to follow them if you don’t already! Today it’s all about the Mama Elephant and Me October Challenge. Wow! October! Since there is so much partying going on over there this month, we decided ANYTHING GOES would be the perfect theme! So bring it! I got inky for this challenge and have to say I love the results….. Isn’t that city scape gorgeous? Hello Central Park…. I so want to go back to NYC! Badly.. I like to visit, not live there because I’m too lazy to walk everywhere, but I sure love visiting……. The background was inked up with distress inks and then I went over the stencil with water. Just plain ole’ H2O.

The die was cut several times…… Inked up with the same distress inks and then I put a coating of glossy accents over the top. Look at the cityscape against the background. How cool is that. Is this something you would like to see a video tutorial on? Let me know in the comments…

You have ALL MONTH to play along in the Mama Elephant and Me challenge so no excuses!!! Be sure to head on over to the challenge blog, see the rest of the design team projects and all the deets on how you can play along and what prize is up for grabs!

Mama Elephant and me challenge: Paper Piecing + thank you

For my Lawnscaping Challenge post, please go here!

Howdy ho guys! It’s the first Monday of the month, which means it’s time for another Mama Elephant and me challenge! Last month’s watercoloring theme was a hit! Be sure to check out all the creations! This month’s challenge is all about paper piecing! I LOVE to paper piece! Initially I thought about paper piecing some critters or little people, but I wanted to go a different route and create a night scene, so I hope I pulled it off ok.

I LOVE THIS DIE! I LOVE IT!! It’s gorgeous, high quality, detailed and well. Just fab! Plus, part of my honeymoon was in NYC so this was a no brainer for me!!! I die cut it with a couple of different pieces of patterned paper and staggered them along the bottom of the card and popped the top panel up with some double sided tape. Before adhering them down, I created a “messy” night sky with my kuretake gansai watercolors.

As a finishing touch, I added this speech bubble from this stamp set and a strip of washi across the top! Be sure to head on over to the Mama Elephant and me challenge blog and check out the rest of the the AMAZING design team samples! When I saw their work, I was a tad bit jealous! It’s awesome…

Shaker card meets Winnie and Walter

Hi there! Today I’ve got my second ever shaker card ready to roll! I didn’t film the process this time, lol! I’ve paired the shaker with some Winnie and Walter stamps, Pretty Pink Posh dies, WPlus9 inks and cardstock and some fun sequins I just found in my stash! See the vertical lines on the card base? I made that using my score-board. All supplies are linked below to multiple sources. I am in the process of getting a hosted blog so the supply list will look a lot more cleaner soon…. I love this Winnie and Walter stamp set…  I use the same set to make this vibrant chalkboard style card.  Today, I used it to make this one. See how universal this set is?  It made for some fun images inside the window. The snail is on the bottom left, but the poor little bugger got covered up with sequins, lol!

Hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by today! If you’ve got any questions, just leave a comment! 🙂 Or just leave a comment anyways, lol!

Stamping with Gel Medium and Gelatos and distress markers

Hi there everyone! Today I’ve got TWO cards to share with you today. They use this the same stamp set by Crafters Companion, but each card features different techniques. Rather than type a novel explaining the two, I thought I’d share a video instead. First, let’s take a look at both of the cards.

I LOVE the Oak Tree. It’s fantastic! Crafters Companion carries an entire line of amazing stamps like this that is great for watercoloring.  The first card features stamping with the Design Memory Craft Faber Castell Gel Medium. I was inspired by a video I saw by Jill Foster.

The words on both cards are from this die cut set by Mama Elephant! I inked them up with some versamark and heat embossed with this embossing powder, WOW!

For my second card, I used distress markers and this GORGEOUS  buttery yellow embossing powder

I created a border on the card base using the same embossing powder. This baby sparkles!

But that’s enough talk! Let’s get on to the video. You can watch it here or over on my youtube channel in HD!

Mama Elephant and Me Challenge 2: Watercoloring and Birthdays

HOORAY INDEED! It’s time for another Mama Elephant and Me Challenge!!! This month’s theme is all about watercoloring and birthdays! Watercoloring is HOT HOT HOT right now, and who doesn’t need birthday cards so this is PERFECTO! I am using THIS STAMP SET by Mama. I love it. I love the large sentiments, the gorgeous font…. It’s fab! The little penguin is from THIS STAMP SET! He was watercolored as well as given a sparkly coat with some Wink of Stella goodness. The sentiment was heat embossed with this Liquid Platinum embossing powder, which seems to go with EVERYTHING I kid you not. (All the supplies are linked below to various sources). I used these watercolors to create the background, but you can use any watercolors you have in your stash!

To create the white border, I masked off the edges with some painters tape… Any kind of masking tape will work, or washi tape even….

The deets of the challenge:

Iron Craft Challenge Inspired using Mama Elephant

Hi there everyone! I have been following Iron Craft for some time now. I love her interviews and challenge so I decided to jump right in and play along! In summary, you have 5 Inspiration photos based on on her most 5 recent interviews… You can use all of them, one of them or a combination of them…  I chose to work with Challenge Inspiration #3, Muses for Iwona. Debby Hughes was a popular muse for many, so this is the challenge inspiration photo I took inspo from:

How gorgeous is that!! Here is my take, keeping the layout the same.

I used a couple of Mama Elephant stamps here to create this card and used Distress Markers for the watercoloring. All supplies are linked below to multiple sources for you.

I plan on participating again in this Iron Craft challenge because all 5 of the inspiration photos are just, well, inspiring, lol!
